Background

Alyssa received her Master of Social Work degree from the IU School of Social Work. She is a Licensed Social Worker as well as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor Associate. She is currently working towards her clinical licensure. Alyssa has experience providing outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment to adolescents and adults with substance use disorders through a community mental health center.

Therapeutic Approach/Specialties

Alyssa works with individuals using various therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She understands that beginning therapy can sometimes be an uncomfortable process as it requires individuals to be vulnerable and honest with themselves. She works with individuals to establish a therapeutic rapport to allow them to feel more comfortable with the therapy process. She has experience working with individuals with PTSD, substance use disorders, depression, and anxiety. Alyssa is currently working towards obtaining her Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) certification.

Alyssa enjoys spending her free time reading, relaxing outdoors, and vacationing in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
