Group therapy
Group therapy provides an opportunity to practice and learn interpersonal skills in a safe environment. Confidentiality is stressed and group participants are asked to protect the names and stories of the group members.
Groups may be organized around a common diagnosis or essential skills needed to cope with a diagnosis (example: assertiveness skills may be taught as an antidote to depression associated with passive or aggressive styles of communication). Groups may be ongoing or time limited.
To participate in a psychotheraphy group you have to be assessed, diagnosed, and referred by a therapist.
If you are interested in group therapy, mention it when you call in for your initial appointment and you will be able to meet with a therapist who leads groups.
